The story of our home

Pantry Sliding Door

The shopping list (and $10 for Kennedy apparently :)) The design did change a little, the Z pieces werent required for rigidity and it weighed a ton which concerned me a little because it needed to hang off the track.

The timber (thanks Don)

Not much detail I’m afraid, but here it is having been glued, screwed and sanded – very quick job

Took the flat bar to cut and bend at Ryan’s workshop where we also welded the steel electric gate wheels onto the door hangers. This one of the two stop-ends to stop the door sliding off each end of the track

This is a stay that bolts into the floor to guide the door and prevent it from swinging away from the wall

The door hangers, with electric gate wheels welded on. The clearance from the edge of the door on the hanger nuts wasnt great (poor planning on my part) but the strength was still good

The finished product, with two coats of oak stain varnish for that aged, rugged look. Glides like a charm. Now all it needs is a pretty new kitchen to live in!

A few months later, after our kitchen and laundry renovation…
